The “fight or flight response” is defined as the physiologic reaction to threats by animals. Also called “hyperarousal” or “the acute stress response”, this is what prepares the body to either fight or retreat from a threat of survival. We humans face physical and psychological threats every day. When attacked, we may choose to run away from the situation, or stand up and fight for what we believe in. And things can get complicated when emotions are involved.

This composition, “Fight or Flight,” reminds us that most of these “threats” are often nothing more than psychological and emotional rhetoric. When the adrenalin takes over, it’s easy to be overcome and lose track of our personal integrity and ideology. Sometimes the best response is to simply stand your ground with confidence, instead of a path of aggression or cowardliness.
